Maru Sushi is located near the Steak N Shake in Sanford, in the Joann’s plaza.
Maru Sushi and Grill is located in Sanford, off of SR46 in the plaza beside the Town Center Mall with the Joann Etc and Tuesday Morning. I grabbed sushi to go for a friend and I, I ordered the meals via phone at the start of the lunch rush. The ordering process was quick and our meals were accurate upon pick up.
A clean and bright interior was very inviting and looks to be a popular lunch spot.
The restaurant had a good crowd enjoying lunch on the Wednesday I was in the area. Maru Sushi’s full lunch menu listing all of the lunch specials is online here.
The Daytona roll, to go. The lunch combo came with soup, salad, and roll. And tortilla chips, curious. Everything was packed well for transport and arrived without issues.
I ordered the following two lunch specials to go:
Lunch special: PICK 2 ROLLS, with soup and salad for $9. I received the salad and ordered the Miso soup. The Spicy Tuna rolls had fresh tuna, cucumber, spicy mayo and sprinkled with crunch flakes. The Tempura Shrimp Roll had tempura fried shrimp, avocado, spicy mayo with crunch flakes.
The Pick two rolls Lunch special $9. Spicy Tuna and Shrimp Tempura rolls.
Good ratio of filling to rice, crunchy tempura flakes and nice flavor. The jumbo shrimp was cooked well. Pickled ginger and wasabi were wrapped, which kept their flavors nicely contained.
Lunch Special: SPECIALTY/ SIGNATURE ROLL with soup and salad, the price varies based on roll- I ordered the DAYTONA , the combo was priced at $10, I received the salad and ordered Onion soup for my friend. The Daytona roll has spicy tuna, avocado, cucumber, veggie mix topped with crab salad, sesame, wasabi aioli, eel sauce and is topped with wasabi tobiko.
The Daytona Roll was very tasty, the Krab salad on the top was a nice touch, as was the wasabi roe. Spicy Tuna was very fresh, but milder in spicy heat than I expected.
The sushi was very good, nice sauce flavors and all of the rolls were fresh and well made. The Spicy Tuna was not very spicy, so request it hotter if you prefer your “spicy” to pack some heat. The lunch specials were very filling and at a price that makes enjoying sushi for lunch during the work week very possible. I will top in here again when in the area to enjoy a sit down meal and get the full experience. In checking out their various signage and reminders posted around the restaurant, they are pretty active with social media.
